People on the move, longing for a better life, or expelled by bullets and fearing the worst: migration and ethnic cleansing are two ends of the spectrum of human dislocation. The link with genocide comes from an Israeli historian of ethnic cleansing: “When the choice is between ethnic cleansing and genocide—the annihilation of your people—I prefer ethnic cleansing”.
